As a Child and Youth Program Assistant for one of the locations at Camp Humphreys, you will assist in maintaining control of and accounting for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Working with other Program Assistants you will participate in the planning, coordinating, and conducting of appropriate activities for program participants. You will serve as a role model for appropriate safety, health, fitness, and nutrition practices while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DOD), Army, and local policies.

 

  • This announcement will be used to fill 2 flexible position at the Child Development Center.

This is a developmental assignment to the Target Level Child and Youth Program Assistant position. Selectee serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more CYSS programs. Maintains control of and accounts for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Assists in providing and leading planned activities for program participants.

Assists in maintaining program participant data and completing daily reports. Provides care/supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with Department of Defense (DOD), Army, and local policies, guidance, and standards. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Entry Level Requirements

1. Must be 18 years old at the time of appointment.

2. Possess the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in the English language.

3. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift AND carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, and stoop on a routine basis.

4. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.

 

Skill Level Requirements

1. Must meet all of the entry level requirements, AND

2. Have one (1) year of education above high school level which included nine (9) semester hours of college credit in Early Childhood/ Elementary/Secondary/Special Education, Child/Youth Development, Psychology, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, Recreation, or related behavioral sciences, or one (1) year vocational certificate in childcare.

 

Target Level Requirements

1. Must meet entry level requirements.

2. Must meet skill level requirements and have demonstrated satisfactory performance.

3. Possess twelve (12) months experience working in a group program with children and/or youth.

4. Have completed Army Foundation Level Training Certificate (Air Force/ Navy equivalent).

-OR-

1. Must meet entry level requirements.

2. Have two (2) years of education above high school level, which included twelve (12) semester hours of college credit in Early Childhood/Elementary/Secondary/Special Education, Child/Youth Development, Psychology, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, or related behavioral sciences.

 


Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.

Conditions of employment 

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

2. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

3. All required background checks of AR 215-3, must be successfully completed and maintained including Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI); to include a health assessment is required.

4. Social Security Card must be presented at time of appointment.

5. You will be required to show proof of US citizenship.

6. Completion of required training must be completed. Entry Level: Satisfactory completion of required training must be accomplished within three months of appointment leading to reassignment to Skill Level. Skill Level: Satisfactory completion of required training must be completed within twelve months of appointment leading to Target Level. Target Level: Successful completion of prescribed training (transition and/or annual) is required. Failure to achieve desired training with demonstrated competence may result in separation.

7. Immunization may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility as determined by a medical authority. Already immune individuals (based on documented receipt of vaccine series or physician diagnosed illness), or those subject to religious exemption, or medical contraindication are exempt from this requirement.

8. You will occasionally work weekends and/or nights for special events.
