NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT: This is an excepted service position and as such requires active membership in the Alaska Air National Guard, be assigned to a compatible military assignment and wear of the military uniform. Performs maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systems. Troubleshoots, removes, inspects, installs, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, and/or test pneudraulic systems, air refueling systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic / air refueling systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipment. Inspects all components and subsystems for operation, internal and external leakage and servicing. Performs installation, modification, and/or repair of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Determines proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts, clearance and tolerances, and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace ground equipment. Perform organizational and field level maintenance to include periodic, phase time, calendar, unscheduled, and special inspection. Provides technical assistance to other shops concerning complicated interaction malfunctions between other systems, subsystems, and components. Jacks aircraft to simulate flight configuration, connects power sources, and uses cockpit controls, gauges, and additional precision instruments to check the operation of such items as landing gear doors, ground and flight spoilers and steering and brake systems for performance and conformance to operating specifications. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG, and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned.

General Experience: Experience/education/training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic and air refueling systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.

Specialized Experience:

WG-05 is experience or training which demonstrates the ability to learn basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to jack and perform hydraulic and pneumatic systems check. Experience in identifying basic malfunctions when source of trouble is easily located by appearance, sound, or response. Experience which demonstratesthe ability to learn procedures used to service, maintain, disassemble, assemble and repair pneudraulic ground equipment. Experience using various hand tools. Experience which demonstrated the ability to follow written instructions.

WG-08 is experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling, assembling and repairing pneudraulic ground equipment. Experience using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.

WG-10 is experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications.

Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Your experience will be evaluated on the basis of duties performed. Your record of experience and/or training must show possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position:

 

- Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles that apply to aircraft systems.

- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic principles, the physical laws governing the behavior of fluids (liquids and gases).

- Knowledge of aircraft structure and the relationship of aircraft pneudraulic systems to the structure and to other aircraft systems and ability to operate test panels and ground power equipment.

- Knowledge of aircraft pneudraulic systems and pneudraulic equipment used in maintaining and checking aircraft pneudraulic equipment.

- Knowledge of troubleshooting procedures designed to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic and air refueling systems.

- Knowledge of and skill in the repair, and rebuilding of ground equipment pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.


APPOINTMENT FACTORS: Excepted/Enlisted in the Alaska Air National Guard.

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to become a member of the Alaska Air National Guard and be assigned to a compatible military assignment in the following AFSC: 2A6X5.

MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT:  Do to the military grade structure for this position, the maximum military grade is SSgt (E5).

OTHER INFORMATION:
