NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT: This is an excepted service position and as such requires active membership in the Alaska Air National Guard, be assigned to a compatible military assignment and wear of the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:

Area 1 - AKNG permanent or indefinite technicians, excepted or competitive civil service currently employed with the Alaska Army or Air National Guard.

Area 2 - All Traditional Guard or Active Guard Reserves (AGR) members currently employed with the Alaska Army or Air National Guard.

Area 3 - All other military members who are eligible to join the Alaska Air National Guard.

Area 4 - All others who are eligible to become military member's of the Alaska Air National Guard.

Duties

Performs maintenance and operational and functional checks on assigned pneudraulic systems. Troubleshoots, removes, inspects, installs, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, and/or test pneudraulic systems, air refueling systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic / air refueling systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipment. Inspects all components and subsystems for operation, internal and external leakage and servicing. Performs installation, modification, and/or repair of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Determines proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts, clearance and tolerances, and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace ground equipment. Perform organizational and field level maintenance to include periodic, phase time, calendar, unscheduled, and special inspection. Provides technical assistance to other shops concerning complicated interaction malfunctions between other systems, subsystems, and components. Jacks aircraft to simulate flight configuration, connects power sources, and uses cockpit controls, gauges, and additional precision instruments to check the operation of such items as landing gear doors, ground and flight spoilers and steering and brake systems for performance and conformance to operating specifications. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG, and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned.
