To qualify for this position at the GS-07 level, you must have at least:
A. Have a bachelors degree in a field that would equip me to perform the work of the position, and meet one of the following requirements for superior academic achievement at the undergraduate level: 1) Class standing - Graduated in the upper third of the class based on completed courses in the college, university or major subdivision; 2) Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 scale as recorded on official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; or 3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. A copy of your transcript is required to documented proof of your GPA, class standing, or election to honor society membership. Failure to provide your transcript will result in an ineligible rating.
B. Have one full year (18 semester hours or equivalent) of graduate level study. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of Program Specialist. A copy of your transcript is required to verify educational claims.
C. Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service, or comparable pay band in other pay systems; but may also have been obtained in the private sector. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by providing customer service in a medical clinic or laboratory providing direct assistance to for the repair, inspection, and replacement of small medical devices, i.e. hearing aids. The work demonstrates the knowledge and skill to recognize malfunctions by either visual or electronic testing; prepare accurate repair orders for small medical devices; perform quality control on repaired items received from vendors; application of supply management and inventory software/systems, and skill in operating various office machines to maintain data and program information in automated computer files.
D. Have less than the full amount of graduate education described in "B" and less than the amount of experience described in "C," but you have a combination of the type of graduate education described in "B" and the type of experience described in "C." To compute, first determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determine your total qualifying graduate level education as a percentage of the education required. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal to at least 100 percent. Transcripts are required to verify educational claims. Failure to submit will result in an ineligible rating.
To qualify for this position at the GS-09 level, you must have at least:
A. Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service, or comparable pay band in other pay systems; but may also have been obtained in the private sector. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by examining and identifying hearing aid malfunctions to determine appropriate repair or service order; writing technical descriptions of hearing aid malfunctions and service required; using hearing aid diagnostic measurement equipment and software, i.e. electro-acoustic sound measurement test instruments, capture and reset device programs; and maintaining automated records of maintenance, repair, updates of service requests in accordance with established procedures.B. Have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of Program Specialist. A copy of your transcript is required to verify educational claims.
C. Have less than the full amount of experience described in A and less than the full amount of graduate education described in "B", but you have a combination of the type of experience described in A and the type of graduate education described in "B". To compute, first determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determine your total qualifying graduate level education as a percentage of the education required. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal to at least 100 percent. Transcripts are required to verify educational claims. Failure to submit will result in an ineligible rating.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.

· Background Investigation: You may need to successfully complete a background investigation before appointed into the position.
· Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
· Time in Grade (TIG): Current employees, Transfer and/or Reinstatement Eligibles must have a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade GS-grade level to be eligible under Merit Promotion. An SF-50 must be provided which shows your current pay plan/series/grade to verify time-in-grade requirements are met. Failure to provide an appropriate SF-50 will result in an ineligible rating.
· Relocation Expenses: Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
· Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
