Position Summary: This position is a Full-Time Schedule A Excepted Appointment not to exceed 366 days. Serves as a research engineer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineerings Advanced Navigation Technology (ANT) Center. Conducts research on guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) applications.

· Assists faculty in planning and accomplishing research projects or studies related to ANT Center projects.
· Conceives and implements new approaches and devises alternative ways of accomplishing research objectives.
· Operates equipment and acquires data, as required. Provides written documentation in the form of technical reports on data and results obtained. Coordinates with faculty, the laboratory supervisor, other department personnel, contractor personnel, vendors, Air Force and DoD laboratory personnel, and university researchers and technicians, as necessary.
· While on duty, the incumbent is responsible for security and safety issues related to the software and equipment used in the ANT Center and assigned workspace.

Applicants must have: Knowledge of computer hardware/software design and programming practices to carry out educational and research projects. A Masters degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field is required. Experience in 1) autonomous and cooperative systems, 2) non-GPS precision navigation, and 3) robust GPS navigation/navigation warfare (NAVWAR) is preferred.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
