This position is a full-time position at the Supreme Court of the United States, in Washington, DC

Current technologies deployed at the Court include: 3GHZ Workstations, 1GHZ to 3GHZ Rack Mount servers, Switched and Routed 100 MB Ethernet Network with a 10GB Backbone, Microsoft Server 2003/2008 and Windows7 Workstations, Microsoft Exchange 2010, SQL 2000/2005/2008/2012, IIS 6/7, Office Suite 2010, Microsoft Access Database applications, VMware ESX Server, EMC and HP/3PAR Storage Area Networks (SAN).

Under the guidance of senior staff, the candidate will perform a wide range of tasks and activities involving configuring, administering and monitoring EMC SANs, Microsoft Server and VMware technologies.  The selected candidate will share responsibility for hardware and software upgrades, system patching, troubleshooting, fault isolation and preventive maintenance.  Additional responsibilities include configuration control, maintaining all systems configuration documentation, and interfacing with other groups inside Information Technology, and Court employees as needed.

Candidates must have a college degree (computer related).  2-3 years’ relevant practical experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2003/2008 and Exchange 2010.  VMware ESX, VMWARE View and SAN experience is desirable.  Candidates must possess strong verbal and written communications skills and an aptitude for technical research. As a condition of continued employment, the candidate must be able to acquire and retain a Top Secret (TS) clearance.


The selected candidate will be working with a small group of highly skilled and motivated technical staff, provided with access to Microsoft’s highest level of technical support; an in-house library of up-to-date commercially available technical books and software; a technology lab for development and testing of technology products; and a fully equipped computer training room.  In addition, the Court provides all employees free access to an in-house exercise facility/weight training room.

Employment is subject to the successful completion of a security background check.
