Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

Serves as a food service worker at the Seward Military Resort in Seward, Alaska.

This is an open continuous announcement to provide a ready pool of available applicants as a need for recruitment that occurs during 2013.  Resumes are only good for 3 months.  In order to receive consideration throughout the year, you must re-apply after 3 months for the next 3 month period.

Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures.  Receives specific training  from the supervisory chef and is evaluated on the basis of demonstrated skill in carving as directed.  Sets up buffet lines, steam tables, dining room tables and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter and beverages; replenishes as necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to follow oral instructions and do assigned repetitive tasks.  Must observe established safety procedures when using knives and other equipment in the perfomance of duties.  Knowledge of food handling techniques for sanitation and safety purposes are required.  Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite frequent interruptions and distractions.  Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures.   


Conditions of employment:

 

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

2. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
