The Office of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is seeking a motivated and highly-qualified candidate for an exciting full-time permanent position located in the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) in Washington, D.C. The mission of AMO is to advance the next generation of industrial process and materials so as to greatly improve industrial efficiency and overall competitiveness, as well as to assist industrial firms in the near-term with greater adoption of cost-effective technologies and practices. These efforts assist in reducing the Nation's dependence on foreign energy resources, the energy intensity of our economy, and the environmental impact of our industrial processes, while achieving cost-effective product quality enhancements and improving our competitiveness in the global marketplace. This position reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency ( DAS-EE) for Technology Development and provides significant contributions to the goals of EERE. The incumbent manages and directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of a national Advanced Manufacturing program of advanced technology investigation, development, validation, and dissemination. Identifies and integrates the scientific, engineering and technical resources necessary to conduct effective industrial technology research and development programs. Manages the transfer of new technology to U.S. industries via public-private partnerships. Manages the Advanced Manufacturing Program research performed by DOE Field offices, national research laboratories, universities, and industry. Develops program guidance, identifies and interprets legislative and regulatory requirements, and manages guidance implementation. Oversees the development and implementation of multi-year program plans and annual operating plans. Develops and manages annual program budgets. Serves as a focus for U.S. participation in matters related to the international industrial technologies community including cooperative research and development, exchange of technical information, conferences, workshops, and summit meetings.
