Applicants must meet the following qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must have graduated from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
Board Certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
In addition, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Physician Assistant. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Assisting in the examination and observation of patients by performing such duties as taking case histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering laboratory studies during hospital rounds and clinic visits.

Selectee will be required to work either 0700 to 1600 or 0730 to 1630, and evening pager coverage rotation from Monday through Friday.
Selectee may be required to come in up to a total of 10 times per month. Total hours should not exceed 60 hours per week.
Selectee will be required to carry a pager during normal working hours.
Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, climbing, kneeling and reaching with occasional lifting of objects over 30 pounds and lifting/transferring patients from wheelchairs.
Work requires frequent rips to any and all areas of the hospital.
Selectee may be exposed to contagious disease, radiation, infection and contact with anxious/emotionally disturbed patients or family members.
Must be able to wear personal type protective equipment such as gloves, gowns, masks, etc.
