OVERVIEW:

This position is located at the Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR), Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA.  The mission of WWR is to provide and facilitate assistance to wounded, ill and injured Marines and Sailors attached to or in support of Marine units and their family members, throughout the phases of recovery in order to ensure all wounded warriors and families successfully transition back to either a full duty status or separate from active duty and reintergrate to the community of their choosing.  The position serves to assist in the communications area for the WWR public affairs function. The incumbent of this position is responsible for carrying out the Regiment’s communication and marketing strategy by providing research, editoral, protocol and administrative support.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.

·         Assist with media relations and public awareness to follow-up on WWR news coverage to connect current media information to subordinate units and other Wounded Marine stories.

·         Assist with developing and producing communcation products for meetings and other internal/external events.

·         Assist teams with producing public awareness materials (i.e. fact sheets, brochures and marketing items).

·         Edit material and images using image/specialized editor tools and enhancement features.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service such as: experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

·         Assist in designing communication products/promotional materials in camera ready format to meet specified preferences.

·         Utilize basic communication and analytical methods to assist with handling news releases, participating in meetings with target/community groups, using effective protocol programs for visitors and gathering information for staff on agency operations.

·         Assist in coordinating work on communications, protocol and editing with the staff and higher authorities to ensure clarity and consistency.
