The Logistics Assistant position is located in the Office of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. The incumbent will research, order, and inventory supplies and equipment in order to provide timely logistics support to campus Corps members and Corporation staff.


The Corporation for National and Community Service was established as a Federal agency in 1993 to engage Americans of all ages and backgrounds in community-based service. Together, its Senior Corps and AmeriCorps programs promote the ethic of service and help solve critical community problems in every state, many Indian tribes, and most U. S. territories. As a result, hundreds of thousands of Americans are joining forces to address community needs in education, homeland security, housing, health care, environmental protection, and disaster relief.

Interchange Agreement:

The Corporation for National and Community Service (Corporation) has an approved (by the Office of Personnel Management) civil service interchange agreement. The Corporation is an excepted service agency. Under the terms of the Interchange Agreement, permanent Corporation employees may be considered for appointment to positions in the competitive service in the same manner that employees of the competitive service are considered for transfer to such positions.

1. Conducts surveys of supply, equipment (including computers and other electronic devices), and furniture needs to facilitate campus operations.

2. Prepares purchase orders or other requests for purchasing supplies, equipment and furniture.

3. Purchases supplies, equipment and services for the Campus through the use of the Government Purchase Card (GPC). Receives all purchases made through GPC program. Verifies quantity, description, condition, and price to actual order. Reconciles the monthly GPC statement. Prepares Cardholder Statement of Questioned Items (CSQI) in cases of billing discrepancies.

4. Receives ordered items and equipment and verifies quantity, description, condition, and price to actual order.

5. Records supply, equipment and furniture transactions in the appropriate automated system. Maintains formal inventory records of all property and tracks property usage. Property tracking includes generation of hand receipts, assignment of equipment or supplies to users, reconciliation of hand receipts, and proper disposal of all Government property.

6. Determines stock levels for items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs and projected depletions.

7. Disposes of items that are unserviceable or unneeded in accordance with established procedures.

8. Inspects campus dormitory(s) for obvious maintenance, safety, or cleanliness issues. May perform a variety of light maintenance and repair work for the Campus, for example: changing light bulbs, adding toner to copy machines, moving light furniture, making simple or minor repairs to nonelectrical equipment.

9. Helps resolve individual computer problems by working with the Agency’s Office of Information Technology Help Desk.

10. Conducts vehicle driver safety tests required to drive 15 passenger vans, as necessary.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the lower range of the NY-01 pay band (at, or equivalent to the GS-02 in the Federal Service).  Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in, or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.  To be considered qualified, your experience must include:  1) work requiring the applicant to maintain a formal inventory of supplies or equipment; and 2) receive ordered supplies or equipment and verify items received against the purchasing document; and 3) experience ordering supplies or equipment for an organization.

Note: Volunteer work may count toward the specialized experience requirements.



You may qualify if you have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in an accredited institution majoring in subjects that would provide you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.  If you qualify for the position based on education alone, you must submit an unofficial copy of your college (or school) transcript.  One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, or 45 quarter hours (or an equivalent combination of semester and quarter hours).  One year of full-time study in a business, secretarial, or technical school, must have consisted of 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks.
