This position is located in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Office of Regulations Policy, and Sciences ()RPS), College Park, MD.

The incumbent provides legal/regulatory support to the program offices. Works collaboratively with staff and management of the Center to maximize the legal/regulatory strength of the Center's programs and actions.

As a legal/regulatory expert, works with the team and the Office to develop and revise policies, programs, regulations, and guidance documents involving the most complex and highest priority matters affecting food and cosmetic compliance.

Serves as a recognized government-wide expert in legal/regulatory matters related to his or her areas of responsibility and is frequently called on to advise others concerning Food and Drug Administration (FDA) statutes and regulations.

Drafts or reviews proposals for new regulations and policy statements. These regulations and policy statements often result from the need to implement new legislation or from new interpretations of existing legislation.

Works as a part of established work groups to develop regulations and guidance advising on compliance with FDA's Good Guidance Practice regulations and other legal/regulatory issues, as well as interfacing with science and regulatory personnel to ensure that regulations and guidance are well-written and consistent with all applicable legal/regulatory/administrative requirements.

Applicant must posses one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, to include experience drafting regulations, notices, guidelines, or similar complex documents pertaining to programs or requirements.
