Employee works in consultation with Pre-Service staff, reviews Applicant Health Service Records when applicants indicate they have had a significant mental health treatment history.
Provides psychological services, such as counseling, testing, and evaluation of patients and/or clients with a variety of behavior problems. Manages cases and provides follow-up services.

Conducts interviews, uses rating scales, questionnaires or other measurement devices, or observes the patient to assess emotional, functional or psychological condition.

Conducts training activities for others, such as customers or employees. Consults and furnishes expert professional advice on the solution of problems or on the feasibility of projects, programs, or plans in connection with training activities or direct services.

Plans, manages, and administers projects or programs for the delivery of psychological services, such as an employee assistance program.

Professional knowledge of psychological principles, theories, methods or data.

Knowledge of psychological evaluation.

I hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.

MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

For all specializations except counseling or clinical psychology: Successful completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree in psychology.

For counseling psychology: Satisfactory completion of two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.

For clinical psychology: Successful completion of the requirements for a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have had one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the FP-04 or GS-11 level.

Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: experience using evidence-supported treatment methods, experience in telehealth interventions, or experience in treatment of substance abuse disorders.

This is an Excepted Service Appointment. Initial appointments to the Peace Corps normally are for 60 months (5 years). Employees are paid on the Foreign Service pay scale and receive the same benefits as other Federal employees. A background security investigation will be required for all hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
