This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), Office of Science.

 

Join HHS/FDA/Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) and help make our world healthier, safer, and better for all Americans.  CTP is the newest arm of the FDA.  CTP is the principal Federal agency charged to establish tobacco regulations in order to decrease the tremendous toll of diseases, disability and death caused by tobacco use in the United States.

Duties

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

 

  • Applies epidemiologic theory, principles, and practice to the analysis of data to inform and/or evaluate government policy and regulations related to tobacco products.
  • Participates with scientists and program specialists in the design and conduct of surveys and/or epidemiologic studies.
  • Analyzes epidemiologic data, including from national surveillance systems, to inform tobacco regulatory policy development.
  • Analyzes study or project implementation procedures and works with program specialists and/or scientists to make improvements.
  • Evaluates epidemiologic study proposals, protocols, and results and provides assessment and recommendation.
  • Serves on panels, committees, or task forces as a representative for the organization on scientific, technical, or professional issues.
  • Works with multidisciplinary groups of researchers including subject matter experts, professionals and/or contractors through the planning, implementation, and/or evaluation phases of a project.
  • Identifies gaps in scientific knowledge and develops approaches to address gaps, and solve novel, difficult and/or unexpected programs.
  • Assists in the writing of comprehensive reports, manuscripts, and literature reviews.
