GS-05 Starting Salary: $35,309 PA

   Salary Range: $35,309 - $45,738 PA

GS-07 Starting Salary: $43,738 PA

   Salary Range: $43,738 - $56,863 PA

GS-09 Starting Salary: $53,500 PA

   Salary Range: $53,500 - $69,545 PA

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatibility assignment in the National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

 

This position requires the incumbent to work 12 hour shifts, holidays, weekends, and nights

 

NOTE:  STATEMENT OF DIFFERENCE for GS-05 and GS-07 on file in the functional area where position in assigned.

 

If the position is filled below the target grade of GS-09, incumbent may have the opportunity to advance to grade GS-09 without further competition when all basic qualifications are met and upon the recommendation of the supervisor.

 

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

AREA I:  All Excepted Technicians of the the 108th Wing (WG)

AREA II:  All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

AREA III:  All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership

 

If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

APPLICANTS ABOVE THE MAXIMUM RANK:

Applicants with an enlisted rank that exceeds the maximum advertised rank for the position may be considered.   Applicant must provide a statement with their resume/application which indicates their willingness to accept a reduction in military rank.   If selected, reduction in military rank is required to prevent grade inversion.   Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers may be allowed to reduce their Officer/Warrant Officer rank to Enlisted only.   Military recruiters can provide Air/Army Officers and Army Warrant Officers with specifics applicable to the applicant.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

NOTE:  THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS

 

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:  MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A TOP SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.

 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 55 in Administrative and 67 in the General area.  ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position.  The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

Duties

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:  Transmits instructions to aircrews and support assets to coordinate launch, recall, execute, and terminate missions in support of operational events.  Gathers information for Operational Reporting (OPREP) regarding significant events or incidents involving personnel and wing assets that require reporting to Higher Headquarters (HHQ), Contingency Operations, significant peacetime events, and state emergency situations.  Dictates which methodology and systems are to be used in tracking diverse aircraft mission movement.  Submits flight plans and coordinates changes to FAA via Aeronautical Information System (AIS) or voice systems to support flying (mission) operations.
