If selected for this position, you will serve as an Information Technology Perimeter Security Specialist in the Office of Information Technology, Division of Infrastructure Management, Branch as assigned.  You will be primarily responsible for quick response technical support and expertise for trouble-shooting, development, testing, configuration, and management of perimeter security networked systems for the transmission of information in voice, data, and video formats. Functions of this position include perimeter security network monitoring and performance, diagnosing and resolving problems, making adjustments to ensure proper load balancing, installing, testing, maintaining and upgrading perimeter security network operating systems software and hardware and ensuring the application of perimeter security information security assurance policies.

    As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:

    * Serve as Public Debt's authority regarding the Bureau's IT communications infrastructure.
    * Recommend strategies and develop standards and procedures for use throughout Public Debt in the evaluation of perimeter security communication hardware and software performance.
    * Prepare detailed written reports with cost estimates and prepare presentations including recommended courses of action concerning the results of analysis of IT perimeter security performance which impact current and future requirements.
    * Install the necessary perimeter security communication hardware and equipment and programs the equipment to ensure the security, interoperability and interconnectivity to and from each component.
    * Conduct analysis of customer needs for additional telecommunication perimeter security network systems services.
    * Provide trouble-shooting support to OIT and other organizations regarding perimeter security hardware, software and communications operations issues.
    * Participate in perimeter security and other related hardware software test and acceptance (T&A).
    * Develop Position Work Statements (PWS) and all related documentation needed to initiate and carry out minor and major perimeter security communications related procurement actions.
    * Develop policies, standards and standard operating procedures required for the implementation of the Bureau's perimeter security communications architecture.

    Specialized Experience:
    For GS-12 you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience for this position includes direct hands-on experience in configuring and maintaining enterprise class* routers, switches, and firewalls.
    (*enterprise class:  infrastructure that is deployed in a data center with full automated redundancy that is used to support the demands of more than 200 users 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.)

    In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies described below. The experience has to be IT-related.

    1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
    2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following, if applicable:
    Time In Grade: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
