POSITION MAY BE FILLED AT THE GS-09 or GS-11 GRADE LEVEL. THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION MAY BE PROMOTED TO THE TARGET LEVEL WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION UPON MEETING ANY LEGAL AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. 

For the GS-09: 

·         The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist providing limited information for the Acquisition System Protection program.  

·         Assists in the implementation and administration of the information security program for the installation. 

·         Participates in the operation of the Industrial Security Program. 

·         Assists with the implementation of the DoD Acquisition Systems Protection Program. 

·         Implements and administers the personnel security program for the installation.  

For the GS-11: 

·         The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Security Specialist providing limited information for the Acquisition System Protection program. 

·         Implements and administers the Information Security program for the installation. 

·         Implements and provides technical guidance for the International Program. 

·         Implements and administers the DoD Acquisition Systems Protection Program. 

·         Evaluates and monitor contractor security programs.

GS -09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-07) or equivalent.  Specialized experience must include knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out security assignments, advising operating officials, and developing guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.

 

GS -11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-09) or equivalent.  Specialized experience must include knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems.

Federal Time-In-Grade (TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions:  Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 for the GS-09 position or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) or at least 52 weeks at the GS-09 for the GS-11 position within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.  The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 

 

For the GS-09:

 1.  Knowledge of security, technology protection, and international concepts, principles, and practices to participate in the planning and implementation of security programs in these areas.

2. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.

5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

For the GS-11:

3. The incumbent will be required to file an OGE 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report on an annual basis.

4. The employee will be required to obtain/maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
