If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for serving as the district Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Systems Manager) responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving three or more IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO). The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, case management systems and litigation support operations.

 

The environment also encompasses a significant number of users within the USAO, many of who may be located in geographically distant branch offices. IT administration responsibilities are considered complex in terms of communications limitations, the need to modify standard systems to resolve hardware and software problems, and the need to adapt precedents or make significant departures from standardized approaches to meet user requirements.

 

Typical work assignments will include:

·        Designing, documenting, developing, testing, installing and implementing new applications software.

·        Planning and designing new and improved information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements.

·        Performing essential Systems Manager tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) IT systems. These duties include a wide range of information technology support technology to meet USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities.

·        Maintain district-wide responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance and management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format. Ensures systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.

·        Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.

·        Supervision: Plan, organize, assign, direct, schedule and review the work of all employees in the unit.


Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

To qualify applicants must have one year of IT related, specialized experience that demonstrates that you possess all of the following five competencies: 1. Attention to Detail; 2. Customer Service; 3. Oral Communication; 4. Problem Solving; and 5. Technology Application; One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as: providing technical leadership on group projects; developing measurable IT project goals and objectives and monitor progress toward achievement; replacing computer components, testing and repairing a wide variety of hardware and software from various manufacturers; providing training and assistance to users using a wide range of equipment and systems; evaluating and recommending adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services; Conduct IT consultation with customers or other technical staff to address their business and technical needs; analyzing and refining systems requirements; Translating system requirements into application prototypes; or researching and applying innovative methods and technologies to design, maintain and improve IT system processes.


 

If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.

If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
