The incumbent's works with the maintenance team under the immediate supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Incumbent performs various duties which include: lake-shore cleanup and solid waste control. Cleans, services and maintains restrooms, sinks, and toilets in a clean and sanitary condition at Dangling Rope, Rainbow Bridge NM, Bullfrog and other locations throughout the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.Providing maintenance functions for the operation of replaces deck cleats, planking, cables, hoses and clamps and assists with the moving of these docks. Plumbing assists journeyman with maintenance of utility system. Carpentry and painting, will assist with construct, alter, modify and/or repair a wide range of features in buildings, quarters, and other facilities. Janitorial, will clean visitor use building(s), offices and comfort stations. Incumbent will assist with maintaining trails, walkways, and landscaping. Boat operation required to access Dangling Rope Marina and Rainbow Bridge NM.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry a variety of tools and equipment.
- Standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing, crawling, pushing, pulling, and lifting variety of tools and equipment at time up to 75 pounds is required.
- Will often perform activities from ladders, platforms, scaffolding and work in confined spaces.
Work Environment: Work is performed mainly outdoors exposure to extreme of temperature, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. Works in and around the lake, sewage lagoons and water clarifiers, and must be able to swim or must wear personal flotation devices. Some work is performed in confined spaces such as manholes and may be exposed to sewer gases, dangerous chemicals, and excess temperatures. Works with and around power driven tools and hand tools. Operates motor vehicles and small watercraft as a regular part of duties.
- May be required to ride in a light aircraft to other districts to perform duties.

The surrounding land of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offers beautiful red rock country for hiking and backcountry recreational activity. Page is centrally located to many other National Parks, such as the Grand Canyon, Zion, Arches and Canyonlands to name a few. Dangling Rope, Utah is located approximately one hour uplake, via boat, from Wahweap Marina in Page Arizona. This is a totally water based operation located in Utah only accessible by boat. The district also provides protection for Rainbow Bridge National Monument. The Dangling Rope developed area has a marina with fuel, a small grocery and supply store and a housing area for Park Service employees and Park Service concessionaire employees. Employees use government boats to travel to Wahweap Marina in Page, Arizona for weekends, medical, shopping and other larger community amenities. The area enjoys typical high desert climate with temperatures ranging up to 100+ degree in the summer. Government housing is required and the employee is subject to frequent call-outs during emergency Situations.
Bullfrog, Utah is a small, remote, in-park community of approximately 300 residents during the summer and about 100 residents in the winter. Amenities include a marina, marina store and gas docks, seasonal lodge and restaurant, gas station/convenience store and garage, and urgent care clinic, and a K-12 school. Teacher/student ratio is 1 teacher per 2-5 students. Full service communities are in Blanding, Utah (90 miles) and Monticello, Utah (115 miles) which has a small hospital and dentists. Major services are available in Cortez, Durango, and Grand Junction, Colorado, or Page, Arizona, all 3 to 5 hours away via all-weather highways. The
Bullfrog Sub-District encompasses beautiful red-rock canyon country. Bullfrog is the main access point to Lake Powell in the uplake District and visitation is heavy in the summer. Summer temperatures run to the low 100's and winter temperatures are in the 30's with sunshine most days of the year. Recreation runs the spectrum of outdoor activities with backpacking, canyoneering, skiing (water and snow), boating, whitewater sports, hunting and fishing all within a few hours' drive and some within walking distance of the housing area.
