JOB SUMMARY:

This vacancy is being announced under the Pathways Recent Graduates Program.

The Ex-Im Bank is the official export credit agency of the United States. Ex-Im Bank's mission is to help to maintain and create U.S. jobs by supporting the financing of exports of U.S. goods and services to international markets. Ex-Im Bank enables U.S. companies, large and small, to turn export opportunities into real sales.

The Pathways Recent Graduates Program allows recent graduates to enter into a career at Ex-Im Bank in entry level professional positions. This new program offers formal training, an assigned mentor and a developmental career path within the Bank. Successful applicant(s) will enter into a written agreement for a year or two depending on the position. During this program, you are entitled to the Bank’s full benefits package including health insurance. Successful completion of this program may lead to a permanent position.

This position is located in the Asset Management Division, Claims Processing Group of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. The Claims Processing Group is responsible for the processing of all claims for the Ex-Im Bank under short- and medium-term Insurance Policies and medium- and long-term Guarantees. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing claims and related data entry into Ex-Im Bank’s claim system which includes documentation review for compliance with the terms and conditions of the respective insurance policy or guarantee;
  • Analyzing claims under the Short-Term Insurance, Medium-Term Insurance, Medium-Term Guarantee and Working Capital Guarantee programs;
  • Being responsible for the evaluation of debtor claims of commercial disputes;
  • Recommending to more senior Claims Analysts on the approval/denial of claims;
  • Evaluating the appropriateness, and writing formal extensions, of claim filing deadlines, and;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Individual Occupational Requirement

EDUCATION

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, international/government affairs, mathematics, law, statistics, insurance, engineering, banking and credit, real estate operations, or other fields related to the position.

OR

EXPERIENCE

Experience that demonstrated competence in agricultural, commercial, realty, or other types of loans. Experience may have been gained in such work as reviewing and passing upon applications for agricultural, commercial, bank or mortgage loans; servicing a loan portfolio of a bank or other loan association; performing financial analysis of commercial concerns for investment purposes; appraising real estate to determine property valuation; or similar work.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

GS-7: To qualify for the GS-07 position, applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level of GS-05. Specialized experience may include using a commercial or banking loan guarantee system; handling several process-oriented tasks simultaneously; entering and manipulating data via Excel; remaining calm under pressure while facilitating internal or external customer requests.

OR

If you are substituting education for experience to qualify at this level, you must have one full year of graduate level education or an undergraduate degree with Superior Academic Achievement at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Superior Academic Achievement can be met in one of the following ways: (1) Applicants must be in the upper third of their graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision; or (2) Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or higher out of a possible 4.0 GPA, or 3.5 GPA or higher out of a possible 4.0 GPA based on coursed completed in their major field of study during the final two years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.

OR

If you are combining both education and experience to qualify for this level, equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.

GS-9: To qualify for the GS-09 position, applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level of GS-07. Specialized experience may include using a commercial or banking loan guarantee system; handling several process-oriented tasks simultaneously; entering and manipulating data via Excel; remaining calm under pressure while facilitating internal or external customer requests.

OR

If you are substituting education for experience to qualify at this level, you must have a master's degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, if related, at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

OR

If you are combining both education and experience to qualify for this level, equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.

Previous experience in international business is desired. Foreign language proficiency in Spanish or French is desired.

Program Requirements for Veterans: Veterans unable to apply to the Pathways Recent Graduates Program within two years of receiving their degree due to military service obligation shall have a 2-year period of eligibility to apply that begins from the date of release or discharge from active duty; however, the veteran's eligibility period cannot extend beyond 6 years from the date of graduation.
