The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, is an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of natural gas, oil, and electricity. FERC also regulates natural gas and hydropower projects. As part of our goal, we are seeking highly skilled individuals to assist in carrying out the mission of this agency. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission assists consumers in obtaining reliable, efficient and sustainable energy services at a reasonable cost through appropriate regulatory and market means. These positions are located in the Office of Energy Market Regulation (OEMR) in one of the three regional Electric Power Regulation Divisions (East, Central or West) or The Division of Pipeline Regulation. OEMR manages matters involving markets and tariffs and rates relating to electric and natural gas/oil pipelines.

To qualify for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: experience that involved the collection, analysis and evaluation of technical information, including the formulation of recommendations.
In addition to the specialized experience, candidates must have the following: A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that provided you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of an economist.
You must show successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher.
