GS-07 Grade Level: 1 year of Specialized experience which was equivalent to the GS-05 grade level; or education substitution of a completed undergraduate degree with Superior Academic Achievement; or education substitution of 1 full year of graduate level education.
Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) is based on a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on the official transcript or as computed based on four years of education; Class Standing-upper third of graduating class in college, university, or major subdivision (i.e., College of Liberal Arts or School of Business Administration); or Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. Specialized experience: Is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the positions, and that is typically IN OR RELATED TO the work of the position to be filled. Applicants must demonstrate in their application packages that they have one or more years of specialized experience related to this position.
Specialized experience would typically include, but is not limited to:
- Technical assignments that are related to claims or benefits processing or eligibility determinations;
- The interpretation of laws, rules, and/or regulations and the analysis of documents to determine eligibility for benefits, quality assurance or perform auditor functions.
Employment examples may include, but are not limited to:
- Claims Processing for a Federal or State agency, Insurance Company, Worker's Compensation, Disability Retirement or Pension Program.
- Human Resources positions which involved determining employment qualifications, job classification, or determining eligibility for employment benefits.
- Loan Specialist/Assistant positions which involved loan eligibility determinations.
- Quality Assurance Specialist.
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
Time-In-Grade Restrictions: Applicants must meet time-in-grade restrictions as outlined in 5 CFR, Part 300, Subpart F, within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Physical Requirements: This position is primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of lightweight items (i.e. folders, claims files, etc.)
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For foreign education, a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency must be submitted with your transcript. All education claimed by applicants will be verified.
