In order to qualify for this position at the GS 9, you must have one of the following:
- One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or greater in the federal government performing the following types of tasks: assisting budget analyst or similar position in monitoring and tracking a budget; assembling a portion of the justification material for budget presentation; providing input in the analysis of current spending and projected estimates and providing results to management.
- A Master's or equivalent graduate degree, OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, OR LL.B or J.D. from an accredited college or university. Education must be related to the position and transcript is required if qualification is based solely on education.
- A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience (as described above), which is equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. This experience and education together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Education must be related to the position and transcript is required.
In order to qualify for this position at the GS 11, you must have one of the following:
- One year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or greater in the federal government performing the following types of tasks: monitoring and tracking a budget; preparing and assembling a portion of the justification material for budget presentation; analyzing current spending and projected estimates and providing results to management.
- A Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (L.L.M) (education must be related to the position, and transcript, official or unofficial, is required if you are seeking to qualify based on education).
- A combination of graduate education and specialized experience as described in A and B above. Both should be computed as percentages to meet 100% when combined. Education must be related to the position and transcript is required.
Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected thate of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
