Join HHS/FDA/Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) and help make our world healthier, safer, and better for all Americans.  CTP is the newest arm of the FDA.  CTP is the principal Federal agency charged to establish tobacco regulations in order to decrease the tremendous toll of diseases, disability and death caused by tobacco use in the United States.

 

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), Office of Compliance and Enforcement (OCE), Rockville, Maryland.

If selected for this position, you will: 

 

• Assist the Director of Compliance and Enforcement in providing staff leadership and direction for all compliance responsibilities of the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) by performing substantive activities related to the planning, development, administration, execution and coordination of nationwide programs and policies regarding the compliance to all laws and regulations for labeling, reduced harm, and regulation for all tobacco products for human use.

• Serve as a principal Center point of contact/information for intra and interagency coordination of compliance issues.

• Manage and coordinate activities associated with compliance issues in the areas of regulatory actions, e.g. recalls; information and regulatory letters; seizures; repairs; replace and refund; banning actions; civil penalties; and domestic or import detentions of tobacco products.

• Oversee activities relating to more efficient and effective monitoring (inspections) of tobacco products; tobacco education programs and materials; risk assessment; and relevant research.

• Plan and set long-range plans and schedules for the overall work of the Office, assure implementation by subordinate supervisors/team leaders and organizations of the goals and objectives of the Office.

GS-15: 

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, to include providing staff leadership and direction by performing substantive activities related to the planning and development of enforcement strategy and prioritization of compliance actions.
