As an Epidemiologist in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), you will be responsible for drafting policy, interpreting regulations, developing standards for data submissions, and review for epidemiologic evaluations of medical devices and radiation-emitting electronic products.

  • Develops and implements major initiatives to advance the quality of epidemiologic reviews for post-approval and postmarket surveillance programs.
  • Reviews and analyzes post-market medical device performance and clinical outcomes data.
  • Directs technical and administrative epidemiological programs; supplying advice and counsel as necessary.
  • Maintains effective relationships with industry, academia, Federal agencies, and national/international research and regulatory agencies.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the basic AND the specialized experience requirements as noted below:

BASIC REQUIREMENT: Have a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in an academic field related to health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position, such as biochemistry, pharmacology, chemistry, epidemiology, or other related biological and medical sciences.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or higher in the Federal Service (experience may have been gained outside the government): developing strategies to improve epidemiologic studies related to medical devices; and representing the agency on controversial epidemiologic issues at professional meetings and conferences.

Conditions of Employment:

 

1. Time-in-Grade: Career or career-conditional current and former Federal employees who select to apply under merit promotion procedures must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level of this position.
