GS-9 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as: experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. NOTE: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation on your resume or OF-612. Also provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish one (1) full year of Specialized Experience. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. GS-9 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: must possess two (2) full year of progressively higher level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.) or other fields related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position with a major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
- Knowledge of a variety of methods, techniques, and materials used in the eh design, production, and reproduction of visual products in a healthcare system that relate to clinical issues, medicare, and other health matters for online and print.
- Experience using drawing instruments and computer graphics, digital capture, still photographic and video cameras, photographic-related equipment, and traditional illustration techniques to execute illustrations/images.
- Knowledge of health care principles, theories, and practices in order to produce visual materials that communicate health and benefits information.
- Experience designing and displaying creative visual products for publications, exhibits, and/or presentations utilizing electronic and print media, and multimedia computer applications over the Internet to include the use of cascading style sheets (CSS) and basic scripting languages.
- Ability to effectively communicate in person with individuals from varied backgrounds and organizational levels.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office and requires no special safety precautions. The work can be done primarily while seated, as at a drawing board or computer keyboard, and requires no special physical demands.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:
- Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
- Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
- Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and
- Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.
After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group.
