Applicants must meet the following qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Applicants must have graduated from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
Applicants must be Board Certified from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
In addition, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Physician Assistant. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Assisting in the examination and observation of Plastic Surgery patients by performing such duties as taking case histories, conducting physical examinations, and ordering laboratory studies during hospital rounds and clinic visits.

Work requires extensive walking, standing, stretching, lifting, transporting and bending in caring for patients; the ability to influence confused patients regarding their care, and physically control or defend against emotionally ill or confused patients. Work is performed in a health care setting where there is exposure to contagious disease, radiation, infection. Gloves, gowns and masks are frequently necessary.
Work may require the selectee to be "on-call" to come in for an earlier shift.
Work hours may be modified based on the needs of the clinic, and work will required after clinic hours pager coverage Monday through Sunday.
Selectee will be required to carry a pager during normal working hours.
