As a Nutritionist in the Office of Nutrition, Labeling, and Dietary Supplements, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the programs and activities of the Staff relating to infant formula and medical foods.

  • Maintains close awareness of crucial and precedent-setting cases affecting infant formula and medical food theories and practices.
  • Plans and establishes program goals and objectives for the team.
  • Counsels and trains members of the team on significant regulatory and compliance concepts, methodologies, processes, and procedures.
  • Addresses professional groups on infant formula and medical foods which affect the agency mission.
  • Critically reviews scientific, technological, and legislative developments that may impact the production and marketing of infant formulas and medical foods.

Basic Requirements:

A degree in dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. (MUST SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS)

 

In addition to meeting the BASIC REQUIREMENTS above, applicants must possess the specialized experience listed below. Your answers must be supported by the content of your resume.

 

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or higher in the Federal service, advising on regulations and guidance (e.g. Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act) for infant formula and medical foods; evaluating nutrition ingredient composition and requirements of infant formulas and medical foods; and planning and assigning work to be performed by team members.

Conditions of Employment:

 

1. Time-in-Grade: Career or career-conditional current and former Federal employees who select to apply under merit promotion procedures must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level of this position.
