This position is located in the Intramural Clinical Management and Operations Branch (ICMOB), Division of Clinical Research (DCR), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH).

If selected for this position, you will:
- Serve as a liaison with genetics/genetic counseling societies, patient support groups and other non-governmental agencies.
- Screen families for appropriateness of available genetic testing.
- Brief NIAID officials on emerging genetic counseling issues.
- Participate in ongoing clinical quality control within the Branch, making suggestions for how best to integrate and execute genetic services to NIAID patients.

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences.
In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirement indicated above, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: discussing with patients and families the basis of clinical trials, roles of various team members, and protocol specifics; directing care of patients by identifying common coping mechanisms; providing psychosocial assessments of patients; analyzing research data concerning a medical diagnosis and guiding the patient to an understanding of his/her condition; and providing substantive technical advice and assistance to patients regarding an applicable medical research program.
