JOB SUMMARY:

Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) is the nation’s fully accredited federal school of medicine and graduate school of nursing. Its education, research and consultation programs are unique, related directly to military medicine, tropical diseases, disaster medicine, military medical readiness and adaptation to extreme environments. We prepare outstanding scientists and health care practitioners for careers in service to the nation.

This position is located at the Uniformed Services University (USU), F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine (FEHSOM), within the Office of Medical Education.  You will serve as the primary manager for curriculum assessment using course, module, and clerkship surveys and other instruments for the Uniformed Services University (USU), F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine (FEHSOM) including all phases of the curriculum: pre-clerkship, clerkship, and post clerkship.

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS

As a Curriculum Assessment Specialist your duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Create, modify and track curricular assessment surveys and other documents.
  • Serves as the primary Curricular Assessment Manager for seven modules during the first 18 months, eight required third and fourth year clerkships, and other multidisciplinary courses of USU, F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine (FEHSOM).
  • Oversees and provides direction and feedback to the Office of Medical Education, Executive Curriculum Committee, Council of Module Directors and other strategic academic councils.
  • Independently coordinates with course, module, and clerkship directors about the optimal timing for administering assessment surveys and other assessment instruments.

GS-09 Level:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing assistance in the curricular assessment process in a graduate level medical school. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • Maintaining assessment survey files.
  • Assisting with coordination of the assessment survey curriculum process.

OR

·         You have a master's or equivalent graduate degree.

Or

·         You have successfully completed two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree.

Or

·         You have a LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position being filled.

Or

·         You have a combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience.

 

GS-11 Level:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating the curricular assessment process in a graduate level medical school. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • Coordinating the assessment survey curriculum process.
  • Providing guidance on policy and procedures to clerkship directors on curriculum development.

OR

·         You have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

Or

·         You have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

 

Or

 

·         You have a LL.M if it is related to the position being filled.

 

Or

 

·         You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above      that equates to one year of experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
