FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

This position is located at 125th FW, Jacksonville, FL

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to ON BOARD, Category 1 excepted military technicians employed within the 125th FW of the Florida Air National Guard.

 

INTRODUCTION:  The purpose of this position is to supervise workers on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis in accomplishing the work operations of the organization segment or work shift and to perform associated nonsupervisory Sheet Metal Mechanic work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Plans and schedules specific work assignments on a daily or project-by-project basis within specified time requirements. Arranges for adequate personnel, materials and equipment to accomplish the work. Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains prescribed methods and procedures; instructs subordinates on new procedures and provides assistance on problems. Reviews work in progress and on completion. Recommends individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment. Assists in the establishment of performance standards and makes recommendations for performance appraisals. Counsels with employees on disciplinary issues and recommends disciplinary action. Conducts on-the-job training and recommends employees for formal training programs. Schedules leave and approves leave for short periods of time. Maintains production reports and records. Performs the nonsupervisory functions of a Sheet Metal Mechanic.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-09 must have 36 months experience or training in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams. Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment. Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys. Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
