FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

This position is located at DCSPER, St. Augustine, FL

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1 & 2 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite military technicians in the Florida National Guard; and Category 2: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.

INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT: This is an obligated position (current occupant is on a Military Tour). If an individual employed in the excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment. If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member reclaims this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to his/her former position or any other position. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.

 

INTRODUCTION: This position is located in the Military Personnel Office (MILPO) of the Army National Guard. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative assistance to one or more of the programs assigned within the MILPO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as a reviewer or processor of actions in, but not limited to: officer, enlisted, boards, retirement, education, automation, personnel plans, mob-readiness, health services, and Soldier Family services. Proof reads finished copy, corrects as necessary and assembles for review, signature, authentication, or other disposition. Provides guidance on requirements for basic regulatory functions. Researches and obtains all necessary relevant information regarding cases and issues. Provides explanations and interpretations of rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements pertaining to actions taken or recommended. Forwards cases to the appropriate action officer for final review and decision. Provides support to maintain a variety of automated systems and interfaces used to manage service members both locally and statewide. Participates in unit Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) and in organizational inspection program.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-06 must have at least 9 months experience, education or training that provided knowledge of general office work which may include but is not limited to: answering telephones, receiving and distributing mail and maintaining records. Experience following oral or written instructions to accomplish work. Experience establishing and retrieving files and information. Experience using common computer software designed for word processing.

 

COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to and qualify in a compatible military position. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technical school training in a military status. Compatible assignments include: EMOS: 42A
