Location: This position is located at the Small Business Administration, Office of Capital Access, Office of Credit Risk Management Division, which is located in Washington, DC.

Travel and Relocation: Travel and relocation expenses will NOT be paid.   (Any travel transportation and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected Candidates.)

You will serve as a Financial Analyst and your duties will include the following: 

  • Provide technical experience and assistance in the conduct of analyses and reviews of lender oversight program activities.
  • Evaluates lender performance on an ongoing basis to ensure risks to the SBA loan portfolio are reflected accurately and appropriately.
  • Responsible for preparing analyses of SBA lenders to identify current and emerging risks to SBA's loan portfolio, and preparing reports for senior management to help understand risk.
  • Responsible for a portfolio of lenders for monitoring, oversight, and supervision including scheduling lender reviews, analyzing results, identifying required actions and following-up to ensure completion.

GS-11: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service) obtained in either the private or public sector  that includes working on a team responsible for portfolio oversight, monitoring of lenders, scheduling reviews, analyzing results, identifying required actions and follow up.

GS-12: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service) obtained in either the private or public sector  that includes working on a team responsible for portfolio oversight, monitoring of lenders, scheduling reviews, analyzing results, identifying required actions and follow up or assisting on a team responsible for portfolio oversight, monitoring of lenders, scheduling reviews, analyzing results, identifying required actions and follow up.

GS-11: I have a Ph.D. in a field related to this position or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.;

Combination of Experience and Education

GS-11: Combination of education and experience as specified above. For example, an applicant who has 1.5 full years of Ph.D. level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.

1.  Knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of monitoring a portfolio and managing risk of a loan or lender portfolio.

3.  Knowledge of lending and banking operations and bank regulatory practices.

4  Ability to write clearly, concisely and logically.

5.  Experience working with field office personnel and senior management to execute agency mission.

6.  Experience dissecting data to understand trends and underlying performance

Candidates eligible for veterans' preference will be placed ahead of other candidates in the appropriate category for which they have been rated.  Additionally, preference eligibles who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent and who meet Minimum Qualification Requirements will automatically be placed in the Best Qualified Category.
