This position is ideal for an administrative professional with experience supporting and coordinating workforce functions. This position has a starting salary of $51,630.00 per annum at the GS-09 grade level, and a starting salary of $62,467.00 per annum at the GS-11 grade level. Apply for this exciting opportunity to become is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Response and Recovery, Recovery Directorate, Individual Assistance Division located in Washington, DC. 

PROMOTION POTENTIAL: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.


This position is being announced under FEMA's CORE Program (Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery employees).  These positions are authorized under P.L. 93-288 to perform temporary disaster work and are funded from the Disaster Relief Fund.  Appointments are excepted service, temporary appointments.  This is a 2 year temporary appointment in the Excepted Service. 


EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT:  For all nonbargaining unit positions, the following applies:  Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.  All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.

• Ensures organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, and work products and serves. 

• Maintains program and reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and takes available policies, procedures and written instructions from supervisor.        

• Prepares reports and maintains records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required, and coordinates the preparation, presentation and communication of work-related information to the supervisor.

• Coordinates employee training activities, including mandatory training, time and attendance, telework, records management and other administrative topic areas as needed.

• Serve as timekeeper for IA reservists/staff deployed to support disasters and tracks deployment dates, places and time periods of deployment;

You qualify for this position at the GS-09 level if you possess one of the following:
 One full year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is described as experience in providing administrative support to an office or organization in the areas of scheduling, coordinating travel, training, payroll and communications.
A master’s degree or 2 years of graduate level education leading to such a degree in emergency management, homeland security, and/or public administration or J.D
A combination of qualifying education that meets the full qualifications requirement.
You qualify for this position at the GS-11 level if you possess one of the following:
One full year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is providing independent support in the development of administrative procedures and guidelines related to training, payroll, travel, scheduling and internal and external communications and reporting.      
Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in emergency management, homeland security, and/or public administration Or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related 
A combination of qualifying education that meets the full qualifications requirement.
All qualifications and grade equivalency requirements must be met within 30 calendar days of the closing date of this announcement.
