NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

 

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (G-4), Surface Maintenance Facility.  The primary purpose of this position is to inspect the repair of a variety of armament equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications.

Inspects a variety of armament material such as towed and self-propelled artillery, tank turrets and weapons, small arms, chemical weapons and similar materiel as well as optical and fire control equipment.  Uses a wide variety of tests and diagnostic equipment such as borescopes, pullover gauges, nitrogen pressure gauge, and other tools and test used in inspection of armament to determine extent of repairs required.  Inspects equipment received for maintenance to determine repairs needed and parts required or to determine if Modification Work Orders (MWO) have been applied.  Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed.  Performs final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or rejects the work and returns the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs.  Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a Permanent Excepted Service position (Temporary Promotion NTE 2 Years)

Military Membership in the Ohio National Guard is required

  • Minimum Military Grade: E-1
  • Maximum Military Grade: CW2
  • Compatible Military Assignment: ECMF/WOBR   91, 94
  • Must have a valid State driver's license for the State in which he or she lives or is principally employed.

General ExperienceExperience, education, or training which demonstrates that the ability to provide technical advice and assistance on difficult work operations; plan, schedule and direct work operations; evaluate work of subordinated; and maintain reports and records.

Specialized Experience: (WG-10) - 18 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates:

1.  Experience which demonstrates a thorough technical knowledge of armament equipment repair, inspection, and testing procedures.

2.  Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in weapons systems; ability to inspect all weapon systems.

3.  Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.

4.  Experience working with complex systems to detect mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic problems.


Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  A copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.  Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.

Requirements

This position is being announced in accordance with state merit promotion procedures and collective bargaining agreement. Wearing of the appropriate military uniform is required while employed in this position. Permanent change of duty station (PCS) funds are not available. 

 

If you are an AGR and are selected for this position, you will be required to vacate your AGR status. 

 

Successful applicant will be assigned to a compatible military position in an appropriate unit of assignment in the Ohio National Guard.
