Overseas Assignments: Overseas assignments are for two years and a rotational agreement must be signed. The assignment may be extended based on the needs of the agency.

before relocating overseas.

·         Security clearances are required for the selectee only and medical clearances are required for selectee and all family members before being posted overseas.  Inability of the selectee to secure the clearances within six (6) months of appointment to position for overseas duty will result in termination of appointment to the position.

If selected you will:

This position serves as Program Country Director in one of the Division of Global HIV/AIDS Program (DGHA) countries. Utilizing a professional knowledge of public health sciences, incumbent develops and directs the implementation of all PEPFAR-funded CDC-supported HIV/AIDS activities in assigned country. This involves any or all of the technical areas of special interest to the Division of Global HIV/AIDS Program (DGHA), including HIV prevention; care and treatment of persons living with HIV; strategic information and epidemiologic surveillance; and health economics, systems and capacity development in the host country. The incumbent will oversee all DGHA staff assigned to the country, which may include professional and non-professional U.S. civilian employees and/or commissioned corps officers; locally employed staff; and, contract employees. An additional important dimension of responsibility includes oversight and accountability for the utilization of U.S. Government resources allocated to the CDC office in question, typically through informed, active supervision of CDC administrative staff.  The incumbent will represent DGHA to the CDC Country leadership and the US Embassy in country, and may be assigned by CDC Center for Global Health to serve as CDC Country Director.  The incumbent will represent DGHA in the USG PEPFAR interagency team.  In addition the incumbent will direct DGHA’s provision of strategic technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and other PEFPAR-funded DGHA partners.   The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining productive technical collaborations with all institutions engaged in DGHA activities, including: the Ministry of Health, non-governmental organizations, universities, medical institutions, and other DGHA partners.

Basic Qualifications:Applicants must possess a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor`s or higher degree with major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. Minimum Qualifications for Epidemiologist, GS-601-15: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which is directly related to the duties of the position and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, to include experience planning, designing, implementing and evaluating epidemiologic studies, surveys and investigations of HIV/AIDS or other related infectious diseases.:


Foreign Education:  If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.  For further information, visit: http://www.ed.gov/.
