As a Food Service Worker you will perform a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures.

This is a Flexible (FLEX) position with no guaranteed hours.  FLEX employees are not entitled to leave or benefits.

As a Food Service Worker your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Set up cafeteria lines, steam-tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items.
  • Serve food by order and proper proportion
  • Break down and clean tables and area when meal is finished and return dishes and food to kitchen area
  • Brew coffee according to number of servings required
  • Assemble or toss fresh fruit and green salads using prepared dressings and proportions
  • Wash tables and counters
  • Operate, break down, and clean all equipment assigned to area for food preparation
  • Make sandwiches using prepared ingredients
  • Clean kitchen equipment
  • Separate food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware
  • Load and operate dishwashers
  • Store cleaned dishes, glasses, and silverware
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets; sweep and mop kitchen floors
  • Unload and store food from delivery trucks

Ability to do the work of a Food Service Worker without more than normal supervision.

Must have ability to understand and follow simple instructions.

Must be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.

Possess working knowledge of sanitation standards.

Ability to walk, stand, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds. (MUST BE IDENTIFIED ON YOUR RESUME)


 

Conditions of employment:

 

1. A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection.

 

2. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

 

3. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies:  Knowledge of Methods and Practices of Food Preparation and Service, and Ability to Follow Directions.

There are no benefits with a FLEX position. 

 

Conversion of employment category (from Flex to RPT/RFT) may be accomplished without further competition in accordance with AR 215-3.
