- Perform laboratory quality control analyses on pool water, raw and treated potable water such as, pH, calcium hardness, total hardness, alkalinity, fluoride, ion, iron, and free and total cholrine residuals.
- Collect data and develops reports for submission to regulatory agencies.
- Maintain records for plant operations.
- Receive, handle and store hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The actual Selective Placement Factor is a valid state driver's license and a NC Water Treatment A-Well certification. Failure to possess these factors WILL result in an ineligible rating. This is an essential position, the Water Treatment Plant operates on a 7 day week, 3 shifts daily schedule and the operators alternate working hours on all three shifts including weekdays, weekends and holidays.
The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Must maintain on-base driving privileges once obtained.
Must possess a NC Water Treatment A-Well Plant Operator's Certificate.
During destructive weather conditions such as, but not limited to, ice and snowstorms, high winds, and hurricanes, incumbent may be required to report for duty. Incumbent will also be subject to call back for work during off-duty hours when an emergency arises to include weekends and holidays.
Overtime may be required.
In accordance with Executive Order 12564, applicants selected are required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP) subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
