This position is located in the Office of Knowledge and Educational Resources (OKER), Division of Extramural Activities (DEA) in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), in Bethesda, MD.
The position is a senior expert and team leader within the OKER, with responsibility for providing leadership and direction to a team of staff members in performing a variety of assignments for the development of new and maintenance of existing knowledge resources pertaining to extramural research programs and policies.

If you are selected for this position, you will perform the following duties:
Responsible for ensuring that all work assignments of the team are carried out to achieve specific tasks, produce work products, and services, and to meet program production goals of the OKER.
Provide leadership for the development and dissemination of a wide range of knowledge products pertaining to NIAID's extramural policies, procedures, and processes as well as extramural research programs and activities.
Lead and manage major electronic writing and communications projects, providing expert advice to the OKER Director, other Institute managers, and staff on the content, format, and editorial quality of major communications vehicles.
Ensure that appropriate policies and strategies are followed for disseminating information to the extramural community at each step in the grant application process.
Oversee the review and maintenance of OKER-written Institute standard operating procedures.
Provide support to the OKER Director who serves as executive secretary of NIAID's Editoral Board, which provides oversight and feedback for the NIAID Funding News and Inside Extramural newsletters and the NIAID Research Funding and Inside Extramural Web sites.
Work with the OKER Director to define the content to be covered within the various newsletter articles and web products.

You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal government obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following tasks: leading the development and dissemination of knowledge products (i.e., web pages and newsletters) pertaining to extramural programs and policies; leading the evaluation of communications program and media strategies; and writing and editing materials for scientific audiences to ensure proper content, style, message, tone, completeness, quality, accuracy, consistency, etc.
