Position Location: 116 Air Control Wing, Robins AFB, GA 31005. 

Type of Appointment: This is a Career/Career-Conditional Excepted Appointment (full-time, dual status, permanent) position which requires Georgia Air National Guard membership.

Job Summary:  This position is located in the 116th Maintenance Operations Center.   Its purpose is to supervise and manage the MOC controllers, coordinate sortie production, maintenance production, and execution of the flying and maintenance schedules while maintaining visibility of fleet health indicators. Requests support services, fire department, control tower clearances for ground movement of aircraft and equipment.   Notify the wing safety office, QA, and Wing FOD monitor of mishaps involving aircraft FOD, aircraft damage, or injuries resulting from aircraft maintenance.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS): PCS is not authorized.

Relocation Incentive: Relocation incentive is not authorized.

Background Check: Selectee may, at the option of the agency, be required to submit to criminal, credit history, and general background checks which will be evaluated by the agency prior to a final offer of employment and access into the Georgia National Guard Federal Technician or Active Guard/Reserve program. 

National Guard Membership: This position requires military membership. It is designated for Georgia Air National Guard Enlisted incumbent only. In accordance with ANG regulations, incumbent performs duties necessary to accomplish  TAG:Position Title functions in support of programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training and readiness missions.

As  a member of a unit of the Georgia Air National Guard, you will be required to train with your unit, normally one weekend a month and 15 days of annual training each year. Georgia Air National Guard units and members are subject to immediate call to federal or state active duty to meet national or state emergencies.


  • Must be a current U.S. Citizen.
  • Under 5 USC 2108 & 5 CFR 211, Veteran's Preference criteria does not apply.
  • Direct Deposit Banking is Mandatory.
  • Military Requirement: Enlisted AFSC 2A590.

The following list is not comprehensive but provides a snapshot of some of the duties that may be required of this position:

  • Coordinates and ensures timely development of weekly, monthly, and quarterly maintenance plans, flying schedules, and documentation of historical data.
  • Supervises and directs utilization of branch personnel.
  • Reviews and coordinates requests for cannibalization and local manufacture of material.
  • Interacts with maintenance activities and the training management function to establish a maintenance training program that ensures all personnel are qualified for their jobs, and that a balance of skills is maintained within the maintenance complex.
  • Allocates, assigns, and replaces vehicles within the maintenance complex according to need.
  • Controls the assignment and utilization of nontactical radios for the directorate.
  • Ensures that MOC coordinates and monitors maintenance requirements with all affected agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General Experience: Applicant must have experience which indicates the ability to reason in quantitative terms, communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner, understanding the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and process characteristics of the production activity.

Specialized Experience:  Applicant must have at least 36 months specialized experience in computations of cost data on labor and materials, buying materials or reviewing data with respect to man-hours, machine time, materials consumed, etc.; experience with current automation support programs to input data, provide status of equipment, and monitor job order status, monitor work priorities, requisition repair parts, track repair parts status, etc.; experience in supervising subordinate personnel, establishing work priorities, overseeing work in progress. 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):  Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the Selecting Official based on the following KSAs considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain visual aids to show the status, ETIC and location of each aircraft on station.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance organization and the production activities.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain functional checklists.
  • Ability to establish a proficiency training program for weapon system coordinators to familiarize personnel with every aspect of MOC operations.
  • Knowledge of reporting aircraft status, utilizing the MESL and applicable AFI.

Other Requirements: For positions requiring  the operation of motor vehicles, selectee must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

For positions requring a security clearance (Secret or Top  Secret), selectee must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

National Guard Compatibility:  Once an applicant is selected and prior to being placed in the technician position, the selectee must be assigned to any unit in the Georgia Air National Guard as an Enlisted member in AFSC: 2A590.

Rank inversion is strictly prohibited.

Wear of the Air Force uniform as prescribed by AFR/NGB/GA NGR is required for incumbent of this position.  Acceptance of this position constitutes concurrence with this requirement as a condition of employment.
