In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

GS-11:

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Typical examples of such work include (but are not limited to): managing a suicide prevention program; arranging and/or providing technical briefings, orientations, training, and workshops involving support programs; developing program policies and procedures; and prepare correspondence and/or reports using a variety of automated systems.

These examples are typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas

·         SKILL IN COMMUNICATION

·         KNOWLEDGE OF SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAMS

·         ABILITY TO TRAIN STAFF

·         ABILITY TO USE AUTOMATED SYSTEMS

·         ABILITY TO ANALYZE INFORMATION

OR

Education: To qualify at the GS-11 using education, you must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.)

OR

Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Must have a combination of specialized experience and education. The percentage requirements must total at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 36. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify) (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.

 

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).


Education Requirement: To qualify for this position, you must meet a minimum education requirement in addition to the experience requirement described above. The minimum requirement for this position is:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.)

OR

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification.)

OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Conditions of Employment:
