US Army Veterinary Services operates as a subsidiary of Public Health Command. Their mission is to provide military veterinary services in support of United States Army Medical Command and Department of Defense missions. The civilian function of the Veterinary Services is a supplemental mission which exists to assist soldiers and their families in the field of animal health and care.
This is a FLEX 00 position at the Camp Pendleton, Veterinary Treatment Facility. The Veterinary Treatment Facility has a very large military-working dog and privately-owned animal mission. The selected Animal Health Technician will only work with privately-owned pets. Our facility currently has three exam rooms with three full-time veterinarians, two receptionists, and one other Animal Health Technician. We strive to have a team environment with good communication, although the clinic can often seem chaotic, due to our busy schedule. The ideal applicant must have excellent communication skills with both coworkers and clients, be able to multitask, be able to independently see vaccine booster appointments and perform other minor procedures (microchipping, heartworm tests, venipuncture, etc) on dogs and cats. The ideal applicant must also be willing to help our receptionist (s) by answering phones and scheduling appointments. The ideal applicant must also be willing to assist in the day-to-day operations of the clinic, including instrument maintenance, clinic cleaning, and many other areas.
