Everyday our Information Technology Specialist, plan, develop and design Information Technology infrastructure, network and engineering solutions that meet business needs and technical integration requirements.  This position of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST starts at a salary of $105,211.00(GS-14 step 1) to $136,771.00 (GS-14 step 10).  Apply for this exciting opportunity to become a member of the Office of Information Technology in Washington, DC within DHS US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

 

NOTE: Term appointment is not-to-exceed thirteen months; however, it may be extended up to a total of four years without further competition. As an Information Technology Specialist, your duties will include the following:

  • Plan, develop and design Information Technology infrastructure, network and engineering solutions that meet business needs and technical integration requirements, maintaining expected user access to mission critical systems, and ensuring that all solutions comply with DHS and USCIS standards.
  • Understand and utilize project management principles; provide oversight and technical guidance, implement large-scale enterprise-wide Information Technology efforts and initiatives; adjust short-term priorities of work and adapt to changes in work schedules, establish reporting metrics and develop and submit operational reports accordingly.
  • Collaborate with multiple operational and organizational components to facilitate the development, delivery and maintenance of Information Technology products and services; define standards and measures for quality services and system implementation, and engineer solutions to resolve customer Information Technology incidences.
  • Formulate Information Technology infrastructure policies, standards, and guidelines; provide guidance for Enterprise Information Technology infrastructure, network and engineering teams; collaborate with IT teams and groups inside and outside of the program; coordinate and implement training for business owners and end users.
  • Evaluate and assess proposed new technologies and systems; identify current and potential problems within an Information Technology operational environment, and provide technical advice, guidance and recommendations to senior management.

GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:

  • Planning, developing and designing Information Technology infrastructure, network and engineering solutions that meet business needs and technical integration requirements.
  • Utilizing project management principles; providing oversight and technical guidance, implement large-scale enterprise-wide Information Technology efforts and initiatives.
  • Defining standards and measures for quality Information Technology services and system implementation.
  • Developing or engineering solutions to resolve customer Information Technology incidences.
  • Identifying current and potential problems within an Information Technology operational environment, and providing technical advice, guidance and recommendations to senior management.


Educational Substitution: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.

Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a probationary period of 1 year.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENT: You will be required to be on call 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.
