The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), Division of Intramural Research (DIR) is seeking an advanced practice nurse with demonstrated success in conducting and directing independent research to serve as Clinical Director for its Intramural Research Program in Bethesda, Maryland.
The Clinical Director is responsible for the oversight of the clinical research portfolio of the NINR and serves as a clinical policy advisor to the Scientific Director and Director. The Clinical Director is responsible for developing and implementing policies related to the conduct of human subjects research; ensuring compliance with NIH and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) policies for the conduct of clinical research; overseeing clinical care provided by NINR advanced practice nurses and research staff in inpatient and outpatient settings; and ensuring the scientific integrity and quality of the clinical research and clinical care conducted by NINR. The Clinical Director oversees scientific review and data safety and monitoring boards to ensure that the highest standards of clinical research are met, and that clinical researchers in the DIR have adequate clinical research support systems. The Clinical Director has responsibility for the overall coordination of services for scientists and patients. Resources will be available for a robust, independent clinical research program.
The NINR seeks candidates who have a commitment to clinical scientific excellence and the energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary to lead the DIRs research efforts. The ideal candidate will have extensive clinical experience in an area that is compatible with the current program focus in the NINR DIR. Additionally, s/he will be a certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with a research doctorate and be eligible for clinical privileges as an advanced practice nurse at the NIH Clinical
