The Pathways Recent Graduate Program is designed to attract applicants who can be appointed to a job within 2 years of receiving their college degree or certificate. Veterans precluded from applying due to military service obligations, begin their 2 year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed 6 years from the date on which they completed their degree (or certification).

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office of the Secretary (OS), Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT), Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), in the Washington, D.C.

This vacancy announcement may be used to fill multiple vacancies.

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to participate in the Recent Graduate Program:

 - Must be a U.S. citizen or national, or legal permanent resident. Non-citizens may apply.
 - Must be a U.S. citizen prior to conversion to a competitive appointment.
 - Must have completed, within 2 years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution.

Incumbent is responsible for correspondence management, office automation, calendar and meeting management, and performing administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the organization including purchasing supplies and equipment utilizing prescribed purchasing guidelines and procedures; preparing and processing documents associated with the travel and timekeeping of the staff; ensuring the management of property within the organizational unit; using standard or form letters to reply to inquiries.

A. Have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service, receiving and routing materials such as controlled or routine correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; entering and retrieving data using a variety of personal computer software; scheduling and coordinating meetings; receiving calls and visitors; and responding to general inquiries in orally and in writing; etc.

OR

B. Have successfully completed four years of education above high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.

OR

C. Have a combination of experience as described in "A" above and education as described in "B" above. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

AND

Type 40 words per minute based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.

AND

Possess experience and/or training using a personal computer and a variety of software to perform word-processing and database management.
