To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level. Specialized experience is typically in or related to the work of the position and demonstrates possession of the competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Qualifying experience should demonstrate independent direction and leadership of a higher education program. Examples may include serving as a Department Chair, Director, Assistant Dean, or Dean of a higher education program.
This position has a minimum education requirement. You must possess one of the requirements below to meet the minimum education requirement for the 1701 occupational series:
A) A bachelor's degree (or higher) that included or was supplemented by major study, at least 24 semester hours, in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position (such as food or agricultural sciences);
B) A combination of education and experience that included courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
