This position is for an IT Specialist(System Administration) in the Information Technology Laboratory.

The incumbent will manage, develop administer and otherwise support information technology (IT) systems and services for the Information Access Division (IAD), National Institute of Standards and Technology. Primary responsibility is to apply knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods in data storage, software applications, backups, printing and networking where systems and services include automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, assurance, or reception of firmware, services, and related resources. Responsible for system administration duties, setting system installation, upgrades and patches.
Lead R&D supporting equipment purchases and development of plans for new testing lab(s), build system clusters, RAIDS, and data servers, and support web sites following industry best practices. Troubleshoot the IAD staff’s non-ITAC supported computer problems and will address issues identified on IAD’s vulnerability scans.

One year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-11 (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience
performing networked system administration, Information Technology infrastructure planning and upgrade implementations, and expert knowledge of applications, operating systems, and system environments; Information Technology security requirements and secure configuration guidelines; Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, Network File Servers, SAMBA HTTP, etc.
