Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on his/her expertise as a security assistant.
Promotion to the Full Performance Level: The career ladder promotion potential of this position is the GS-7 level. However, this position will be filled at a lower grade. When and if it is determined that a subsequent promotion is warranted, it may be made without further competition. Promotion up to and including the GS-7 level is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

The incumbent performs standardized and routine pre-authorized access functions in support of the security, law enforcement, safety and fire departments, which includes a broad range of communications, physical security, clerical, computer skills, and emergency management duties. Maintains and repairs all Power Office padlocks and lock cores. Assigns electronic access to each person on the project including employees, contractors, etc. As registrar for the Personal Identification Verification (PIV) system the incumbent is responsible for establishing the chain of trust by verifying an applicant is who he or she claims to be through the collection of biographic information, verifying identification documents and taking fingerprints.

Applicants must meet the following qualification requirements.
For the GS-6 level, one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience is further defined as relevant security-clerical experience which provided the applicant with experience in security support measures including physical security; access control systems; key and lock management systems, identity verification systems, etc.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
We will review your resume and transcripts (if applicable) to ensure you meet the basic qualification requirements. We will evaluate each applicant who meets the basic qualification requirements on the information provided in the assessment questionnaire. The assessment questionnaire will take approximately 45 minutes to complete and will evaluate you on your knowledge of the areas of general physical security measures, access control systems and security-clerical support. Qualified candidates will be assigned a numerical score on a scale of 70-100.
You will be further evaluated on the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) through your resume and responses to the online questions.
1. Knowledge of key card and lock systems.
2. Knowledge of security regulations, practices and Privacy Act regulations.
3. Knowledge of specialized access control systems.
4. Knowledge of a wide range of computer applications.
