JOB SUMMARY:

  • Uses word processing software and related hardware equipment to produce a variety of correspondence, reports, tables, special symbols, tables of content, graphics, charts, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Produces a variety of correspondence, reports, and office forms. Edits written material to ensure correct grammar, when grammar may be complex, spelling, and punctuation. Files correspondence, reports and other materials.
  • Provides customer service - greets visitors, answers telephone and routine requests, prepares travel requests and computer travel vouchers; prepares requisition/procurement requests, performs timekeeping duties, and reviews personal property documents or records.
  • Recognizes the need for and constructs and maintains databases containing a variety of data and using multiple software systems. The data must be capable of being retrieved, revised, sorted, and formatted to produce documents and reports required to meet organizational goals.

You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Your application or resume must clearly show that you possess the appropriate experience requirements.

Selective Factor: In addition to the requirements below, applicants must show possession of the following selective factor: Proficiency typing at least 40 words per minute based on a five minute sample with three or fewer errors.

GS-4: One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled; two years of successfully completed education above high school; and/or combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Examples of qualifying experience are: performing office work, such as answering telephone calls, filing, typing, checking e-mails, opening mail, routing mail, making copies, and scheduling meetings.

GS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level; 4 years of successfully completed education above high school; and/or combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and experience. Examples of specialized experience are: preparing travel advances for approval; scheduling travel accommodations and meetings; and determining supply needs of office staff.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

4. SF-50 Notification of Personnel Action if you are a current or former Federal employee that will verify your federal status, position title, series and grade. Also provide the SF-50 that reflects the highest grade level held on a permanent basis or the full performance level of your current position, whichever is higher.
