Applicants must have one year of specialized experience or additional education as defined below.
GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-04 level in Federal service; OR, successful completion of a full 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with cources related to the position (such as history, science, public relations, education).
Definition of Specialized Experience: To meet specialized experience,your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:
GS-5: experience that involved oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups; and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups. These examples are not all inclusive.
This vacancy announcement allows for substitution of education for specialized experience. You must submit a copy of your college transcript from an accredited college or university (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support your education if you are substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Human Resources will review resumes and transcripts to ensure applicants meet the basic qualification requirements. We will evaluate each applicant who meets the basic qualifications on the information provided in the assessment questionnaire. The assessment questionnaire will take approximately 60 minutes. Qualified candidates who meet the best qualified criteria will be referred for consideration.
Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position. If you meet the basic qualification requirements, your on-line responses to the vacancy assessment questionnaire will be used to determine the quality and extent of your experience, education, training, etc., for placement in one of the following categories: 1)Best Qualified, 2) Well Qualified and 3) Qualified. Veterans with preference will be placed at the top of their respective category.

1. Knowledge of and experience in oral presentation of historical, scientific or natural resources information to convey interpretive information to visitors.
2. Ability to present information clearly and audibly and to answer questions posed by the general public.
3. Ability to adapt the basic tour presentation to fit the level of comprehension within a given tour group (i.e., more technical emphasis for groups of engineers, simple explanations for elementary school groups, etc.).
4. Skill in coping with the public, i.e., holding the attention of the group, maintaining control, solving problems and reacting quickly and effectively in case of a safety matter.
