We are an independent combat support agency within the Department of Defense (DoD). We are the Department's contract manager, responsible for ensuring Federal acquisition programs, supplies, and services are delivered on time, within cost and meet performance requirements.

About the Position:

 

DCMA PATHWAYS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: The DCMA Pathways Internship Program is a streamlined program which replaces the Student Education Employment Program (SEEP), i.e., the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) and the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP).  The Program is designed to attract students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions (high school, home-school programs, vocational and technical, undergraduate and graduate) with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school.  This Program exposes students to jobs in the Federal civil service by providing meaningful developmental work at the beginning of their careers, before their career paths are fully established.  The flexible nature of the Program also accommodates the need to hire students to complete temporary work or projects, perform labor-intensive tasks not requiring subject matter expertise, or to work traditional "summer jobs."

 

Work Schedule: Minimum of 16 hours per week with an average of 24 hours per week, Monday - Friday (Flexible hours and days depending on students class schedule). May be full-time on an as needed basis.

Business Travel required 10% of the time

Applicants must meet the OPM Qualification Requirements for a Pathways Internship Position.

Education:

  • GS-04 - Completion of two (2) academic years of post high school or associate's degree

 

Your application must show that all requirements for this position are met.

The required education must lead to a bachelor's degree with specialization in or directly related to the Engineering field in which the student trainees will receive training on the job. The degree of specialization in this field must satisfy on graduation the specific educational requirements in the qualification standard for the corresponding positions.


Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.   • Resumes are rated using Category Rating procedures. If you meet the minimum qualification requirements, based on your possession of job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities your resume will be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants eligible for veteran's preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
  • This is a Defense Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position.  Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level II within 24 months of entrance on duty.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION:  The agency has the option to convert Interns to term or permanent positions if the Intern meets the requirements of the program.  This is not automatic.  It is at the discretion of the employing office. 

Interns may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-4 years).

To be eligible for conversion, Interns must:

  • Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program.
  • Complete their degree or certificate requirements.
  • Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted.
  • Meet agency-specific requirements as specific in the Participant's Agreement, and
  • Perform their job successfully.
  • Agencies may waive up to 320 of the required 640 hours of work for Interns who demonstrate high potential as evidenced by outstanding academic achievement and exceptional job performance.
  • In addition, students working in agencies through third-party intern providers may count up to 320 of the hours they work toward the 640 hour requirement.
  • Time spent under previous Internship Program appointments may count towards required work experience hours.
